Eveland Lake House, Michigan

Built on a promontory overlooking Big Maggie Lake in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, the 2500-square-foot vacation house has lake views from three sides.

The construction is traditional heavy timber post-and-beam, and materials include dark stained cedar, fieldstone, and clinker brick.

Inside, a loft above the kitchen overlooks the great room with its 23-foot high fireplace.
