These
examples of renovations in older buildings in various Manhattan neighborhoods
share clean detailing and a rich palate of materials, with the goal of
creating a serene environment.
In the Moses Apartment renovation from
1997, white Venetian stucco, acid etched milk-white glass, sycamore
cabinetry, frosted mirror and black granite was used to create a setting
both minimally modern and whimsical.
In the townhouse at 169 East 71st
Street, rooms were reconfigured to better proportions, with storage
increased but also made less obtrusive. A new carved white carrera
marble
fireplace with a recessed beveled mirror above, for the Christie
residence, was carefully scaled for the dining room, and related in its
detailing to the Art Deco apartment building.
